Recently, my craving on true burmese cuisine has been grow bigger day by day. Probably, that's because I haven't had proper meals over several months. Always eating in canteens and some restaurants with customers, making me sick of eating any fancy dishes and longing for the simple burmese dishes such as dried-salted fish and some side dishes like "nga pi yay". hehe

And also I'd like to eat spicy chicken curry, spicy and sour fish curries in True burmese style. But the thing is that I don't really know how to cook the true Burmese dishes.

Growing up in Shan state, my cooking style has some influenced of chinese style and thus whenever I cook something, it never tasted like true burmese taste :(

So all boys and girls here, please share with your favorite curry and your secrete cooking recipe ..

If you don't want to share here but you really want to show your skill, you can do so by Inviting me over your house for some lunch or dinner. I don't mind that as well. haha

I will share mine later too :D

No worries, you'll learn someday when you really wanted to eat something and you can't find it anywhere. :)

I was also not interested in cooking and didn't know how to cook till last few years back.
But since there is no family here for me, I've no choice but to learn cooking at least for simple dishes. hehe..

Actually, there was no one to show me how to cook as well. Before I came to Singapore, I didn't even go near to the kitchen at home. So I'd no idea what is the procedure for cooking. (shame on me :D)

And I started to cook because I am really sicked of eating in the canteen/foodcourt. Honestly, burmese food we get from cityhall Paninsula Plaza were also not that delicious at that time.
(now, since there are many burmese shops & competitors, they becomes aware of quality, I guess.)

I remembered several dishes were throwed away when I start my cooking on my own, . I couldn't even eat a little bit of what I cooked. haha

As time goes by and now (I believe) I became a pretty good chef.. lol

So .. don't give up!

"Nga Ta Lout Paung" (Sardin Curry)

Recently, I tried the first time cooking this curry and found it quite simple if you have the Pressure Cooker.

Ingredients:
- 1 packet of frozen Sardin ( you can buy from Panisula or Kaung Sone shop from clementi)
- 4 medium onions
- 4 cloves of garlic
- chilly powder
- Ginger 1" slice
- Salt & fish sause
- ta
- 4 or 5 lemon grass
- 1 slice of Lime or Viniger

Preparation:
Wash the lemon grass and ground it to get the fragrance out of it. (no chopping or cutting) Spread it in the bottom of the pressure cooker. This will prevent the fish from sticking in case the water is boiling off.

Wash the fish and rub with salt, fish sauce, tumaric powder & chilly powder. And place the fish on the Lemon grass which was already spreaded over the bottom of the pressure cooker.

Squeeze the lime juices over the fish or put the viniger.

Grind the Onion, garlic, ginger together.

Heat the oven with oil and fried the grinded items ( onion, garlic, ginger). Fried until it turned to yellowish color and get fragrance. Don't forgot to put the chilly powder and tumaric as usual burmese style. :)

Once it was turned to golden yellow, you can now pour all the ingredients and oil over the fish which was place in the pressure cooker.

Cover the fish with water and now you can cook with pressure cooker.

About 30 to 45 mins, you can have your delicious Sadine ..
Have a nice meal.

Thanks, 22.

That's something new. Normally, I'll just boil the chicken and make salad with tomatos, chilli and onions. :D

I'm getting hungry now.. hehe

Please share more ;)
